DURING THE VISIT
Do I need to be home during the appointment
Yes, an adult must be present for the appointment and able to assist, if needed. Most animals are more relaxed with their pet-parent there to give treats and words of encouragement. Special needs should be discussed with the technician prior to the first visit.
How should I prepare my pet and home for your visit?
Cats should be placed in a room where they can not hide under or behind furniture. This is very important because pulling them from these places, where they feel safe, can be very stressful and greatly increases fear and anxiety. Good options are a bathroom, laundry room, or office.
Dogs should have a leash handy in case it should be needed.
If your pet has previously been prescribed medications for stressful events, please include that in the patient history.

Are you licensed and insured?
The business is an LLC, and I am fully licensed and insured. I am also a registered Veterinary Technician licensed by the State of California.
Do you need a prescription from my vet for medications?
Medical treatments must be prescribed by a licensed veterinarian, and the pet parent is responsible for providing all medications and supplies required for treatment. It is illegal for The OC Vet Tech to diagnose illnesses or prescribe medications or treatments.
Do you keep medical records?
Medical records for diagnostic visits—such as blood pressure, blood glucose, and anal gland expression (if abnormal)—are maintained and shared with the veterinarian you designate.

What services does The OC Vet Tech provide?
Services include nail trims, subcutaneous fluids, Intramuscular and subcutaneous injections, Doppler blood pressure monitoring, anal gland expression, ear cleaning, blood glucose checks, medication administration, sanitary clips, mat removal, and pet sitting.
Are your veterinary technicians licensed or certified?
Yes. The OC Vet Tech is a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) licensed since 2008 with multi-specialty and emergency hospital experience, and is Fear Free Certified.
How do I schedule an appointment or consultation?
Contact us by phone or through our website to discuss your pet’s needs and schedule an appointment at a time that works for you.
What is a mobile veterinary technician?
We are registered veterinary technicians (RVTs) who provide in-home pet care services. We are not veterinarians and cannot diagnose illnesses or prescribe medications. We help administer
the treatments or medications that have been prescribed by your veterinarian.
How does a mobile vet tech visit work? What to expect
Prior to scheduling, a complete patient history will be obtained. This will include medical history, proof of Rabies vaccination, and discussion of the pet’s fear, anxiety and stress when visiting the vet, and in the home. If needed, instructions will be provided to those needing special care.
A day or two prior to the visit, a 1 hour arrival window will be provided. An exact ETA is sent when the technician is enroute
During the first visit, extra time is spent allowing the pet to become comfortable with the new person. Treats are offered to facilitate this process, if allowed. All treatments are performed in the home, or secure yard, where the pet feels the most comfortable.
What areas do you serve?
We service most of Orange County.
Do you work with my regular veterinarian?
Yes. For diagnostics, such as blood pressure monitoring or blood glucose checks, a visit summary will be sent to the veterinarian provided.
How do you approach nervous or aggressive pets?
We are Fear Free Certified. The comfort of our patients is most important. Nervous animals require time, patience, and occasionally a “meet and greet” to make the introduction process easier. We offer treats to make friends, and carry a variety of options to find what they love. If your veterinarian has prescribed medication for anxiety/ sedation, these may be beneficial until the pet becomes comfortable with the technician.
While rare, there may be instances when the pet is too fearful to move forward with the treatment. A minimum of the travel fee would still be applied.
Aggressive animals have specific requirements that will need to be discussed with the pet parent to ensure the safety of both the pet and the technician.

Courtney has been an absolute angel. She first helped when my senior cat, Sheba, needed fluids, and I was a complete wreck about how to help her. She patiently taught me techniques and care for my little old lady. She was incredibly helpful, caring, and patient, always there to give encouragement and support. When my other cat, Jack, was recommended to start fluids as well, I immediately knew I had to ask Courtney for help. He’s a bit more feisty than my Sheba had been, but once more, Courtney stepped up for us. Her patience and experience helped both Jack and me get into an excellent routine with his care. And while I was worried about him being difficult, Courtney was as kind and patient as ever. While Jack isn’t thrilled, he has quickly settled into his weekly visits, and I’ve found hope that we have a friendly, knowledgable and caring vet tech to help us on this journey.
